What our students have to say ...

It's not an overstatement to say meeting Phoebe changed my life

After many years in the wilderness of not enjoying or making music, one wintery evening I went along to Godalming Jazz Choir and it reminded me just how much I love to sing! Since then, music has been firmly back at the epicentre of my life.

As well as being a talented singer, musician, and songwriter in her own right, Phoebe is a fantastic teacher - warm, funny, and encouraging - she also knows exactly how and when to push you to get the most out of your voice.

Under her tutelage, I have seen myself grow hugely in confidence, range, and technical ability, as well as my understanding of how to deliver a quality performance.

Phoebe is a very special person and a joy to be around. She has created an incredibly welcoming community of singers and musicians, a schedule of exciting events... and most of all, she makes it FUN!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Phoebe to anyone - you will love your time with her! ”

Suzi - Group Guitar with Matt

“My son and his friend have been having guitar lessons with Matt since 2017. As Matt is both a skilled musician and experienced teacher, each child has made excellent progress, which is undoubtedly down to Matt's ability to tailor the lessons to their differing individual needs.

Since the start, Matt has used contemporary music to teach Issac & Grace fundamental guitar skills, giving them solid foundations to build on as they progress.

By teaching them songs they know, or melodies that they want to learn (such as the Harry Potter theme tune!), Matt has been able to pique their interest, so that practice is never a chore!

Matt's seemingly endless patience, kind nature, and cheerful disposition mean the children look forward to their lessons and are always happy to go. In fact, they frequently arrive brimming over with excitement!

I can't recommend him highly enough.”

WARNING! Godalming and Guildford Jazz Choirs are Infectious.

"Phoebe and Alex are an amazing team, full of ridiculous musical talent, energy, generosity, and kindness.

I personally have never played an instrument or sung in a choir, but just always loved singing! I was so lucky to be introduced to Godalming Jazz Choir by a friend, who had been introduced by another friend, and have made more friends AND introduced friends! Needless to say - it's a friendly place.

There's a great variety of songs with upbeat, jazzy arrangements written by Phoebe. Before you know it the songs are weaving into your daily life!

The choir is fun, supportive, inclusive, inspirational, and challenging - in a good way!”

Atalia has been amazing at getting me back into piano after nearly a 2 year break.

“She has made every lesson enjoyable and I've felt like I've achieved something at the end of each one. I look forward to continuing with my piano with Atalia and to continuing with my grades and progressing my piano skills.

Phoebe is an amazing singing teacher who has really helped me with my confidence and ability to sing. Before singing lessons I thought I would never sing a solo - she has managed to build up my confidence to perform solo songs on multiple occasions. I can't wait to learn more from Phoebe and to continue improving my singing. ”
